Continuous Education in the Art of Improvisation
Why Gaining Perspective?
Are you a Theatre Teacher whose students thrive with improvisation, looking for hands-on guidance from a highly trained improvisational actor? Are your students tired of the same improv games that you've done over and over again? Do you have a talented group of students who would excel at doing a completely improvised play?
Are you a high school principal, counselor or teacher looking for tools that engage students who are emotionally withdrawn or unaware of the kind of obstacles they put in their own way? Do your students show potential, but lack motivation? Are you needing assistance in helping students to see how bright and amazing they truly are?
Are you an improv actor stuck in an improv rut? Do you want to reconnect to the JOY you experienced when you were first introduced to improv? Are you about ready to give up on improv all together?
Gaining Perspective offers:
•High School Theatre Instruction: Help strengthen a high school theatre program with improv instruction and group formation or use improvisation in the classroom to help encourage self awareness, identifying/expressing emotions positively and improving communication skills.
•High School Self-Awareness Instruction: Engaging students in play helps them to understand and take responsibility for their undesirable behaviors towards themselves and others. Getting students to recognize what obstacles they put in their own way and how to remove those obstacles greatly improves self esteem and helps steer them towards success breaks the cycle of going in the wrong direction.
•Classes for Actors & Improvisers: Enroll in the series that will take you through individual discovery, ensemble dynamics and an introduction to the basics of well-known forms of long form improv.
•Coaching and DIrecting: Give your ensemble extra “umph” with a professional director and or coach.
•Vantage Point: Workshops taught by leaders in improvisation. Years of studying, performing and teaching with institutions like Second City, iO, The Annoyance and UCB puts them at the top of the craft.
Gaining Perspective is the place to start!
Through Gaining Perspective, Kerstin Caldwell shares her perspective on the art of improvisation to help people who want to get back to the sheer bliss that hooked them in the first place. The thrill of witnessing a student step through a door of discovery always reminds Kerstin how lucky she is to have found this art form and her passion for her craft helps her encourage improvisers of any age to seek out as many forms of education in the art that they can. Kerstin uses the simple act of play as a motivator to get students to understand themselves and how improvisation can be a powerful tool for healing, self discovery and good old fashioned FUN!
